THE JOYFUL MENAGERIE

Contessa Gallery presents The Joyful Menagerie, a highly curated exhibition of more than one hundred works by Hunt Slonem, including sculpture — the most comprehensive presentation of the artist ever mounted in Southampton.

For more than four decades, Slonem has painted daily in his New Orleans and New York studios, building a singular visual language of repetition and reverie: bunnies, butterflies, and tropical birds rendered in luminous color with his distinctive cross-hatched brushwork, often finished in diamond dust. His work resides in the permanent collections of more than 250 museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
